Safe places to keep gas?

With all the crappy-crap I'm thinking of getting a few extra cans of fuel to keep around. Where can I keep the stuff (safely). I live in a tiny apartment and I'd hate to poison myself. Is it safe to keep in the back of my Explorer? I'm thinking 2 cans of 6 gallons each- just enough to keep me going awhile. I don't use but about 16 gallons every 6 weeks or so.

Julie apartments bldg usual have a small storage are for tenants and if you have one then that's the place, but don't tell the lanlord.

Back of your car bad idea, if you get rear ended there could be a KABOOOMMMMM.

Living in an apartment, you have way more problems than being short a few cans of gasoline.

Yes, but I'm sure not going to STOP making preps: I have guns and ammo far more than my neighbors.

I have a good buddy nearby that is a big-time survivalist. He's expert trained and considered becoming a mercenary until he converted to Austrian Economics. I bet he'd help me out with this.

I've seen what you are talking about in JC Whitney. My husband used to drive a full size truck with dual tanks and you could expland it with yet another tank. As was, it held more than 40 gallons of gas so it wasn't much of an issue.
